The Great Online Cookie Exchange Extravaganza--Mocha Pecan Pie

It is officially the day of the 2014 Online Cookie Exchange Extravaganza! Following my recipe, is a link list of participating blogs. Please do go check them out--there are sure to be some great goodies.

So this is another one of grandma's secret recipes (shh) from what is left of one of her old cookbooks. It is great made a day ahead of time, quite simple, and absolutely delicious!

Mocha Pecan Pie:

Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
Ingredients:

Crust:
1/3 cup butter
1 cup flour
3 TBS. water
Cut butter into flour until combined. Stir in water until dough forms a ball. Roll out, and place in pie dish.

Filling:
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup maple syrup
2 TBS. strong coffee
2TBS. butter
2 TBS. flour
3 large eggs
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup toasted pecans
Melt chocolate chips and butter over low heat. Cool to room temperature. Combine with all ingredients except for the pecans. Pour mixture over pecans, and stir just enough to coat the pecans. Pour into your unbaked pie shell, and bake @ 400 degrees Fahrenheit for ten minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for another 30 minutes, or until filling is set but still moist. Cool completely before cutting, and serve with a large dollop of whipped cream.

  1. Hey lil. Since I'm not a baker, do you think I could get a sample of your delicious sounding cookies? Maybe you can arrange for all participants to send me some. Is that possible?
    Love ya.
