This and That, Here and There...

I know the blog has been unusually quiet lately. I just haven't had a whole lot to say, though I have learned a few things lately:

I am an inch taller than I thought. Spent my entire adult life believing that I was 5'7, turns out I'm 5'8. Who knew?

Spring does not occur ever year--sometimes it's straight from freezing misery to heatstroke in the blink of an eye!

The office manager at my chiropractor's office is a huge fan of the fifty shades series. Am I the only living female on earth who hasn't read it?? One of these days I'm going to give in...If I'm going to end up discussing it with random people, I should at least be able to blame my familiarity with BDSM on a book, right?

There is apparently a prerequisite character model for books in the fifty shades category. Okay, so technically, I have only read a few, but the Dominant character was the same in all of them. And the same on the back of the book I glanced at the other day...Oh never mind, that may be a post of its own.

Every year, I will inevitably regret signing my kids up for soccer camp and necessitating driving three hours a day every day for a friggin week. You guessed it, starts tomorrow!

In other random news...

We discovered that writing and sharing a computer are not compatible activities.
So he bought me a laptop. With the necessary software.

It arrives in a few days, and I have to admit that I'm rather excited.

I did have one more excuse up my sleeve though...
About the technical rules of writing, and how I never quite mastered them.
He scoffed at me and rolled his eyes.
I'm not allowed to roll my eyes, wtf!

I Googled something...And now every time he plays chess on the computer, this awesome bright yellow ad pops up, "Be brave. Write!"
Lol.

And that's all I got.
Except, Happy Father's Day to the dad's of the world. And most of all, to the one who puts up with my offspring, yet loves them anyways.

  1. Love the post, happy you are getting your very own computer. Know you have no excuse not to write. Trust me on this, if I can get published you are a slam dunk.

    1. sunnygirl,
Oh, I was still scraping up excuses...The perfectionist in me may be my worst enemy lol. But yea, I'm checking the mail of my own free will today, to see if it's here yet.
      Thank you!

  2. I used to sign my kid up for sailing camp and drive too much too! I did it year after year. So I totally get it. Good luck - set up some good music or ruminate on your writing while you drive?

    1. sin,
I kind of enjoy the drive, though how enjoyable it is depends on the kids lol. All that time in town waiting around with the little one gets kind of old after a while...

I have to admit, ruminating (about anything) is really one of my very favorite pastimes.

      Thank you!

yea, I love that sign lol.

For us, their summer programs are a big pain in the ass. But they're thrilled, so it works out.

  6. I haven't read the books either, though my mother has, and when I was at my externship, everyone was enthralled with them.
My mom decided they were horribly sick and demented, because the girl was made to crawl, and tied up. I wanted to leave the room laughing, thinking about how tame that is in the spectrum of things, and how often that happens in the very house she said it in.

I did listen to a minute or two of the audio book though, and couldn't stand the writing style. Generally, I'm not a fan of smut or romance, so this would have had to of been amazing, and it made me want to punch my laptop after just a few seconds.

    Hooray new computer though!

    1. Loki,
Lol--Alpha and I both chuckled over your mom and the house she said it in bit.

I must admit, not a fan of porn, but I do adore me some smut.
I ended up not buying any of the books because of the writing style, but I am doubting my ability to hold out forever lol.

  8. I write WHILE the kids are doing their thing. During practice. Can't do it during the drive...but, I can think about it then, so I'm ready to write when I get there.

  9. Hi, Lil. Late to the party. Did your laptop arrive yet? If you don't like the color or something, just send it on over to me. ;-)

I shudder to think how many miles I've logged driving for my kids' sports and other activities. And, the waiting around in all weather, at all hours of the early morning and late night, with a little one or two...rough.

... I'm the very house she said it in... Ha!

    2. Hi Irishey,
no worries--I seem to always be late to my own party these days lol.

It did arrive! On it right now. And if I can manage to somehow drag myself out of the ridiculous slump I have sunk into, I might actually even use it for its intended purpose!

    3. Yea! Glad you got it.

Oh, dang. Slumps. I have one of those. It just occurred to me as I read your comment, and can't believe I forgot this - Growing up, my mom always told me to stop thinking about what I need to do and what I should do, and just get up and do it. Good intentions don't accomplish anything, and avoiding things just puts you farther behind.

I need to post signs in every room that say:
      DO SOMETHING!

Play nice.
