Is it Bedtime Yet?

No, not the romping kind of bedtime.
The kind of bedtime where your head hits the pillow at 8:00, you sleep for ten hours, and wake up to the smell of pastries and coffee.
In other words, a real fantasy bedtime.

Today was just one of those days. Well, technically, I think it started yesterday when Alpha dislocated his shoulder. Again.

This morning I loaded up the kids...

Went to the post office.
Now, I hate checking the mail. There's this lovely lady behind the counter, and she's all sweet and smiles, but I still hate it.
Seriously though, the mail is never good news, and half the time the news you need isn't there. Like the medicaid renewal forms I desperately need. That's a problem because my body is giving me problems and I have been informed that it's time to get them checked out.

Then the MVD.
Terrible place that.

Then I took them to town for shoes.
Oh
My
Fucking
God!
An hour in the shoe store trying on every pair of mens 7.5 until finding a pair that worked. He's only 10. It's unnatural.

Then to the feed store because the wicked chickens must eat.
Some days I wonder if we have this whole raising poultry thing backwards...

The horror ended after an hour in wal mart. Evil evil place.
I may have told my youngest that I might eat him if he kept his shit up in the store.

Did I mention that I forgot to eat before before leaving the house this morning?
Luckily, both of the children survived.

The garden needs water...And for some reason, the inhabitants of my house expect dinner. They ate an hour ago for goodness sake!

  1. I know i shouldnt chuckle but its nice to know it happens to someone other than me.

I live in a fairly rural area, the village is a tourist hotspot so this time of year its a nightmare, i need to take both kids shopping very soon which means a trip to the nearest city which is stressful for all of us.

My daughter is 11 and wears size 8 (uk) shoes and its really difficult to find suitable footwear which we both agree on (she is adamant that heels are suitable!) it inevitably ends up in stroppy attitudes all round.

Hope you get the medication sorted out soon.

    1. tori,
oh you totally should chuckle! As long as people chuckle, my whining doesn't annoy me nearly as much as it could lol.

Oh...I feel you on taking the kids to the city to do shopping--it can be such a nightmare!

I wish it was medication...It's our health coverage, but I have a bit more time that I thought, so hopefully it will all workout fine.

  2. Oh girl, these are the kind of days where I beg Musicman to let me run away. I hope it all works out well in the end :)

    1. Faerie,
I have gotten permission to run away in the past...But he ruined it completely by saying that I had to take the kids.

      Thank you!

  4. For me it isn't bedtime so much as naptime... One week this year, I had FOUR naps. It was a dream come true... Okay, I was recovering from surgery, but still. FOUR naps. In a single week.

How do we get more of those?

four naps in one week! Ooh la la.
Now to make that happen without surgery...

  6. I call those days "as the world turns". After my spouse has one of those days, I prepare the whirlpool, music and a chest to lay on in the bed...

  10. I live on the Jersey Shore (really. And it's nothing like the show) so from Memorial day until Labor day, leaving the house is a nightmare. Luckily I know the back roads so I don't have to deal with nearly as much. Yesterday was an equally annoying day for me, with my daughter being a beast, my ex and mother combining their own annoying stupidity, something crawling up my father's ass to die, and then this morning finding out a whole new barrel of stress. I baked a cake just to keep from killing everyone.

Now today I need to hit the grocery store, before heading north to Master's place for a night, and then further north Friday for some time with friends.

Also, I threaten to eat my daughter often. Or throw her in the garbage. Master threatens to fight her. Sometimes she throws her hands up fisticuffs style and fights back, which is adorable, and makes me feel a bit better.

  11. Really, Alpha? Again? If it didn't hurt so bad I wouldn't have any sympathy for you.

Size 7.5 for a 10 yr old. What did you expect. You're married to a behemoth and you're half giant. Go figure!

Please don't eat your child. I do find it interesting that you said this to your younger one, not the older one.

And for the love of everything, EAT!!!! Especially if your running errands with children.

    Hope today is better :)

    1. Sarah,
I am not half giant! Geez, I already have a complex being several inches taller than his preferred height.

And the younger one, yea...They trade up--there shalt never be an evil space unfilled I guess.

  13. LOL at the size 8.5. Scooter is 11, his last pair was a man's size 9. He sidles up to me every morning to check if he's taller yet.

And when I am reincarnated, I'm coming back as something carnivorous that eats its young.

      lmao!
The first time I read this comment, I thought it said "reincarcerated".

Oh yes, I think that coming back as something that eats it's young is a very reasonable plan.
