Already?

My oldest baby turns ten today...

According to my chiropractor, crab carbonara  and 4 layer chocolate mousse cake accompanied by homemade strawberry ice cream, is not the common fare for a ten year old's birthday.

Who knew?

He's just too aware that it's the one day a year he can ask for any meal and I'll make it lol.

I had better get in gear...Did I mention that the cake is going to be covered with chocolate coconut ganache?

  1. Can I come for dinner? Sounds great. They grow fast whether you're ready or not.

Your new background reminds me of 'Something wicked this way comes'.

    1. sunnygirl,
      of course!
And I don't think that I have been ready since he rolled off the bed the first time lol.

So I take it that you don't want to wander off in these particular woods?

  2. My youngest asked for dinner at a seafood place when she was five because she wanted crab legs for her birthday. She's seventeen now, driving taking her ACT and thinking about prom.... I wonder where my little girl went.

    1. Mrs. D,
Crazy how fast they grow. It's like having kids speeds up time itself...

  3. I laughed out loud at the crab carbonara. Scooters favorite food at 2 was sushi... with wasabi. There is one in every family. Happy birthday oldest!

    1. Thank you lm!
Unfortunately for me, I think every one of my family has turned into "one of them". The little one is already plotting his cake, and his birthday is six months away lol.

  8. How wonderful! I too am raising a 10 year old gourmand. It really opens up a world of places you can take your kid to eat ... and have you found that if your kid takes a real interest in the ingredients and preparation by asking questions of the wait staff and/or manager, then you'll invariably get a dessert for free? My kid figured this out and now she boasts about how many free and interesting desserts she's gotten for our table. Enjoy! They grow up too fast don't they.

    1. SublimeWifey,
Eating something somewhere else that someone else cooked is my idea of a good birthday...Unfortunately, if they eat something they like somewhere, it is inevitably followed by, "Mom, you have to figure out how to make this!" lol.

And yes, they do grow up way too fast.

    1. Jake,
My fees are quite high...My currency at the moment is dependent on a complaints system--the more complicated the dishes, the more complaints I file. Lol.
