More Vanilla Ramblings

I turned down the job.
When Alpha said, "If it's stressing you out that much, then maybe it's not worth it" I felt like a ton of bricks had been taken off my shoulders, and the world was a much better place than it had been only moments before.
Of course, the job refusal was accompanied by a somewhat resounding sense of guilt--the lady needs help, and we do need more income. But, it wasn't enough to make a real difference, and I'll do my best to see if I can help her find someone else.

The truth is, I absolutely must find something to do that isn't so physically demanding, and I'm terribly unqualified for a desk job.

So I'm applying myself in other ways for now:

I finished the blanket for Thing2's second baby--it grew way out of proportion. But the good news is, if it survives his childhood, he can put it on his bed when he's twenty.
Okay, well, technically...I haven't tied off all the yarn ends, but I figure I have a few months to get there (issues finishing projects anyone?).

Looking for a good coconut cake recipe, (hmm, first time I typed that, I got "cocnut", I'm thinking he wouldn't appreciate the humor when related to something you beat up and bake).
I want to try it with lime curd filling, and my birthday is the one I experiment on, so I'm going to try something new.
If anyone has any good recipes for coconut cake, please send them my way!

Preparing myself to get up at the crack of dawn for jury duty selection tomorrow.
The thought of possibly having to sit in a room and come to an agreement about something important with a group of strangers...It's quite unpleasant.
That is not at all what I had in mind when I said I needed something less physically demanding to do--one day I'll learn the ever important correct phrasing for requests to the universe.

Deleting spam comments.
Seriously, it's like someone opened the damn floodgates and the little buggers have just been swarming!
I don't need voodoo to get my girlfriend back, I don't need penis enlargement gimmicks, I don't need nature's cure for thrush, and I certainly have no interest in watching transvestite porn.
I'm one complimentary "Good info on this site, visit my page at_____" from turning the spam filters back on, but I'm resisting the urge because they're such a pain in the ass.

I'm fairly sure that I will get back to our regularly scheduled programming soon, but in the meantime...

Something to look forward to!

Lots of luck with the job transition, I've been doing that too and it's not easy.

    1. Faerie,
      It is awesome isn't it?

The whole transition thing is rough huh.
Especially if you have limited qualifications, and enough self-doubt to power a small country lol.

    1. Dee,
Hopefully that something isn't jury duty...I didn't think they were allowed to pay below minimum wage, but apparently I was wrong lol.

Thank you for the recipe links! I told Alpha this morning that the best part of having a blog was being able to ask for a recipe, and voila!

  3. Coconut is a favorite food around here but have only been brave enough to try the box recipes, sorry. Please post what worked so one can try it out.

Very happy you turned down the offer, it seems like that was the best option due to all the stress it was causing.

I got links for three recipes, I'll post my success (or failure) lol.

I'm happy too! And yes, I think it really was the best choice.

  4. Eeeeek, the dreaded yarn ends. I hate taking care of those. I have found that if you do every now and again while doing the project it doesn't seem so tedious.

    1. Yearning Letgo,
You know, I had good intentions about taking care of them each time I tied on a new thread...But uh, I let myself get distracted with the fun stuff like making progress. Unfortunately lol.

  5. I am getting spammed too but mostly it has just been nasty comments.

People seem to expect the web to be nothing but bunnies and puppies.

lmao--Nooo, and I don't want a penis to enlarge either!

Sorry to hear about the nasty comments--I seem to be a bit low on them around here...All the marketing spammers must be crowding out the jerks.

P.S I got a car insurance spam comment on this post. Oh the irony lol.

  6. The right opportunity will come along. Maybe you should check out those websites - you never know, your answer might be in there. lol

Coconut cake with lime curd filling. Sounds delish. Not a baker just an eater so can't help.

I have to laugh at your universe requests, I'm constantly trying to find just the right wording

    See ya.

    1. sunnygirl,
lol--wouldn't it be something for spam to work out so well?

My mom raised her eyebrows at the lime curd, but I think it will be good. And after all, those cakes everyone requests on their birthdays were invented on mine, so I have a pretty good track record lol.

Yea, every time I think that I have that whole "phrasing" thing down, the universe reminds me that it's very good at finding the loopholes lol.

here are the links I was sent:

      http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/coconut-cupcakes-recipe/index.html

I'll post my success of failure with the one I try!

Would this be a bad time to admit that I took all the leftover yarn and immediately proceeded to start making something else before dealing with one single stray end on that blanket?

  8. Cant help with the cake, baking is certainly not my area of competence, but i do hope you find the right reciepe.

I cant reply to your comment on my blog about the blog on my blog roll (still with me lol) because blogger isnt letting me respond to the commments on my posts!

I can tell you that that blog is one that i continually delete off my blog roll but it keeps re-appearing, i didnt even get your latest post ie this one appearing on my blogroll, its still showing your post before last.

    1. tori,
blogger is being especially wicked lately! half of the time when I visit my blog, it won't even give me an option to sign in or go to my dashboard. It feels a bit like not being able to get into my own living room...
Not to mention, the updates on my dashboard seem to be quite selective lately...I feel your pain!

Not sure you want me sending the universe requests on your behalf...I seem to have an exceptionally bad track record. So I hereby absolve myself of liability for any unexpected and/or less than desirous results!
