Technical Irritations

I have a formspring account, but it's pissing me off because I can't figure out how to edit the damn box for my blog. So I went looking for some other kind of question submission form...Yea, no success there. Any recommendations?

And I know I said I was done complaining about the new dashboard...But I'm afraid to follow new blogs because I can't figure out how I would quit following if I wanted to. I do Not have commitment issues lol.

Exciting stuff no?

  1. Managing the blogs you follow is still in the old interface - and I have the same worries you do about losing that capability... for now (I think), it is still accessible, but I guess they could take it away at any time.

    I hear you.

    1. I have been trying to adapt to the new interface while the old one is still there to fix whatever I break with the new one lol.

  2. no worries. you just click the "gear" icon on the right hand side (next to "view in google reader") and the pop up box appears. click settings and then stop following.

    2. sorry. i just realised the old Blogger gives you a pop up. the new Blogger just directs you to a new page. it looks the same, but it's not a pop-up. yeah well. just thought i'd let u know before you saw a new page load and started panicking.

  3. I don't know what the old style was like because I just started this but I do know that I can stop following blogs at any time if I want to. Do exactly what fondlers anonymous said :)

    1. Belle,
It took me a ridiculously long amount of time to get the old interface down. Then they changed it and my technologically challenged brain had a conniption lol.

    1. tori,
I'm crap with computers too lol. The thing that makes me nervous about trying to change the coding, is that I have to put it on the blog to try that (ti won't seem to let me on the site) and I don't know what I'm doing. I would much rather screw it up on the formspring site.
Ahh, well if I get brave and you arrive one day to find the whole blog formatted as a blue forspring box, you'll know what happened lol.

  5. I am so not competent when it comes to blogger. I don't even know if I am using the old or new dashboard. Sad, huh.

I have figured out how to remove a blog I no longer want to follow though. I go into customize, hit layout, go down to Blogs I Follow, hit edit and a pop up box gives you the choice of adding or deleting blogs. This sounds different than the above comments but it works.

I'll be reading your comments to see if I can learn anything new too.

    1. sunnygirl, lol. I don't adapt well to change, so when it automatically updated, I had a minor meltdown. I had just got the damn thing figured out! Never mind that it took nearly 2 years...

    2. ok that's for taking a blog off your blogroll...if you've added a blog to your blogroll, just Stopping the Following doesn't remove it.

when you're logged in, under your "blogroll" list to the right there's a little icon (spanner/screwdriver) that you click. and a pop up box appears. and then you "remove" it from your blogroll.

  6. A formspring account? I've managed to 'unfollow' a couple of times but after a bit of time passes, I forget again! I've taken a note of FA's advice.

    1. Dee,
the formspring widget is basically a way for people to anonymously email questions. http://www.formspring.me/
The big drawback is that the question can only be like 250 characters and it cuts off but the sender doesn't know that.
And right now I can only find it in blue which just does not match my color scheme. Humph lol.

  7. FA - so easy, thanks! (If I could like her comment, I would have done that.)

Oh there's probably a way to install a like button for comments...But you won't ever see it here because that would require me knowing what I'm doing lol.
