I Can't Write Smut

"Sigh, I can't write smut."
Alpha rolled his eyes at me, "Of course you can, you can write whatever you want to. Just because you don't write smut doesn't mean that you can't."

Oh the terrible pain that occurs when someone else's confidence in me goes so far beyond my own that it's not even funny.

"But I can't even talk dirty!" His eyes took on that particular glint that they do when he's about to say something I want to disagree with but can't because lying is against the rules. "Mmhhmmm...You can talk dirty just fine when I make you beg for what you want."

Uh...
Well...
Yesss...
But...

"I hate it when you make me beg!" Naturally, in his ever sensitive manner, he laughed at me without even bothering to choke on it, "No you don't. You love it and you know you do. Don't make me prove it to you right now."

Oh fine. I suppose there's no sense in denying something that we both know to be true.

Over the next couple of days, I figured out why I can occasionally talk smut but cannot write it (most of my deep thinking takes place in the car, what can I say). It's because when I talk it, the goal is to turn him on and get him off. So it's geared towards his fantasies.
If I wrote it...Well that would be my fantasies--not his. And that is somehow far more difficult.

Funny how that works...

  1. I had to write out all my fantasies in a journal. It wasn't easy at first, but it helped get the smut started. For me, saying them out loud is even harder than writing them, and he wants me to do that too, so I do.

    1. ancilla,
saying my fantasies out loud is extremely difficult for me. Saying His fantasies out loud isn't quite so difficult. Go figure.

  2. I think smut has a different definition for everyone. I find it very difficult to write about sex. I can read it and do it, but writing comes hard (oh maybe I should choose another word).

    1. sunnygirl,
I agree--it does mean something different to everyone. I have had people get really offended by my use of the word in reference to books.
I tend to define it as something one can get off on.

Oh no, you shouldn't have chosen a different word.
*Giggles in a very juvenile fashion.

  3. lmao. Your not alone, if i attempt to write smut it comes over like cheesy porn, my excuse though is sex is not something i consider an important part of my relationship nor my submission, i dont value it as much as i do other things....does that make sense?

I have no problem reading smut in a D/s context, i think i just prefer over analysing the mental aspects of power exchange, and s/m i can write about that much easier than i can sex because its more interesting for me.

    1. tori,
LOL. See, I don't want to be guilty of cheesy porn!
Um, sure, it's a great excuse. Now if I could just come up with one of my own...

I don't have a problem reading it either--I actually rather enjoy it.

    1. Minelle,
kind of odd how that works isn't it? I'm best at practice lol. Everything else is a bit of a challenge.

  5. I absolutely cannot talk smut. I have no problem writing it, until the actual sex would happen. Then I just can't figure out how to make it sound interesting.

My regular line is "There's only so much you can do to make 'wiggle wiggle sploosh' sound attractive"

I have quite an active imagination. And that is the one time it never fails to let me down lol.

  6. ...and then he plunged his love rhino into her hot cavern of woman-lust? Like that? LOL It's easy to write bad smut. Not so easy to write stuff that someone would actually want to read.

    1. I may figure out a way to use the term "Love Rhino" in regular conversation. Just to do it. Because it must happen.

omg, I simply must quit drinking coffee near the computer. Now I just need to find a way to work that phrase into something somewhere...

  7. Smut is smut, and is no fun to write...truly takes a gifted mind to do it right.

One good way of writing smut, is to write with him in mind. It is amazing what comes to the mind when you are thinking of the one you want to please.

  8. A more pressing question is, "why would you want to anyhow?"

Hmm, probably in large part because I can't lol.
Ooh, your smutishly challenged too? Smutishly so should be a word. Even if it probably wouldn't be spelled like that if it was...

  9. Complete block here too. I cannot even think it. I grew up in a family with 5 boys and no girls. Did High school in a just boys setting. Still, I never heard one smutty word in my youth.
Probably times have changed, but I cannot change anymore.

    1. Bas,
Oh I can think it just fine--I have been informed that I have a dirty mind. Now sharing is another thing altogether...

My introduction to smutty words was at a rather young age courtesy of the neighborhood child molester. Could explain some of my aversion...

  10. Kitten- I stole, um, borrowed "love rhino" from the great cartoon Bloom County, of all places.

From Billy and the Boingers "Let's Run Over Lionel Richie with a Tank" song

    Lemme graze into your veldt
    Lemme stomple your albino
Lemme me nibble on your buds
    I'm your LOVE RHINO!

  11. So funny - my post for tomorrow also has the word smut in the title. Is that really what we are calling it now? Lovingly, I hope?

I can only write it if I do so while still on a bit of a high. Fortunately a high can last into the next day and I sleep less than Master. :)

Oh I don't know what other people call it, so I won't speak on behalf of the masses.
And yes, it's said with love lol.

  12. Smut is the slightly more classy word for porn. :) If you want to be super classy just call it erotica.
