All the Cool Shoes...

So I'm standing in the shoe store earlier, doing my usual silent complaining about shoe size availability (I'm at least 4 inches taller than the average woman around here. They get all the cool shoes).
A man walks behind me and says, "Damn your gorgeous." Then continues on his way out of the store as if nothing had been said.

That should have been creepy right?

It totally wasn't.

In fact, I may have let a giggle or two slip through as I was telling Alpha about it.

He called me a whore.

What can I say, when one suddenly outgrows the clothing they have been throwing on every morning for years, it's hard to be offended by random compliments.
And seriously, I don't know about anyone else, but the first day of my period always has me feeling about as sexy as a drowned rat. Life is full of surprises!

Overall, it was a surprisingly successful afternoon. Except for the shoes. Because women with small feet get all the cool shoes.

I much prefer being the person saying "I told you so" lol.

  2. I love this. Ages ago when I was a waiter this stunning pregnant lady came in and sat at my table. I served her and at the end i was overcome and stopped to say, "Don't take this the wrong way - this is not a come-on, but you are the single most gorgeous pregnant woman i have ever seen." She burst into tears and that was that. I wish our society allowed us decent men to appreciate women as works of art. I'm saying I appreciate a woman who strikes me as beautiful - I am not saying I want to take every single one of them home and make them forget their own name.

    1. Matt,
that's awesome! Having been pregnant twice, I would be willing to bet that she'll remember that moment with joy for the rest of her life.

Lol, I like the sentiment of appreciating a beautiful woman without wanting to take her home and make her forget her own name.

      Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Jodi,
I always frown at the tampon commercials where the girls are jumping for joy with serene smiles on their faces....Clearly written by someone who has never had a period, or lived in close proximity to someone who does.

    2. Lol lil...I absolutely agree with you about the
girl jumping for joy with serene smiles on their faces...makes me want to go postal. Hahaha

  4. It's lovely to get those compliments. You know they are truly meant.

I have big feet too 9- 9 1/2. I agree about the cool shoes. Shoes in my size are so big they are ugly.

    1. sunnyigrl,
Truly meant and not in the kind of way that makes you want to slap someone lol.
the shoe thing is terrible! I have really wide feet, and apparently that's an anomaly or something...

  5. I go to shoe shops where the shoes are arranged in size so I don't even have to get my hopes up by looking at the beautiful smaller ones, I just peruse the tiny and usually uninspiring selection in my giant size.
To be given a compliment like this would brighten my day too.

    1. Janey,
here all the small shoes are in the front, so you have to walk by tons of them to get to that tiny section of ones that fit...It's like watching someone eat ice cream and not being able to have any!

Oh, I'm all about the flip flops! And Iam of the opinion that being able to walk without breaking an ankle, is it's own special kind of sexy lol.

it was totally awesome! Funny thing is, I never even saw his face--I was too busy looking around the empty store in search of the other woman I was sure he was talking to lol.

    1. Roz,
Oh you would do well here--sizes 5-7 get isles of space, while anything over an 8 gets a little tiny section with all the sad choices. It really is maddening. Especially when there are sooo many cool shoes in the world!

  9. Oh that's awesome! Totally would have giggled too. Lol.

Totally get what you're saying about shoes too. It's hard to find ones that fit properly and are adorable. At least without spending a fortune on them.
